Terms of Service

Agreement to Terms
By installing or using Private Hub (the "Service", including the browser extension and the website), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Your business is your business. We're here to keep it private.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by:
- Legal entity: Musubi (trading as "Private Hub")
- Legal form: SASU
- Registration number (SIREN/SIRET): SIREN 999 130 420
- Registered address: 41 rue Jacquemars Gielée, 59800 Lille, France
- Country of establishment: France
- Contact: raphael@musubi.dev
Purchases are processed through a third-party Merchant of Record, which acts as the seller of record and is responsible for invoicing and applicable VAT/sales tax. The specific provider is shown at checkout.
2. Service description
Private Hub is a browser extension and website that routes your web traffic through the Tor network for enhanced privacy.
Core features:
- One-click Tor proxy connection
- Quota-based usage (time-limited sessions)
- Anonymous sessions (no account required)
- Optional account creation (recovery-hash or email)
- Transparency dashboard showing all stored data, with JSON export and account deletion
- Free tier, pay-as-you-go credit top-ups, and an annual plan
What we don't do:
- We do not guarantee 100% anonymity (Tor has known limitations).
- We do not monitor or log your browsing activity, the URLs you visit, your DNS queries, or your traffic content.
- We do store session start/end times, quota usage, and payment records — all visible in your transparency dashboard (see our Privacy Policy).
- We do not control Tor network performance or availability.
3. Account types and authentication
3.1 Anonymous sessions (no account)
You can use Private Hub without an account. Anonymous sessions provide a short cumulative trial with no server-side record. A small quota counter is stored only in your browser; temporary proxy credentials are stored briefly in our cache and expire automatically.
3.2 Recovery-hash account (no personal information)
You can create an account using a randomly generated 16-character recovery key. We store only a one-way HMAC-SHA256 hash of it — we cannot reverse it.
Your responsibility:
- Save your recovery key securely. If you lose it, we cannot recover your account.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- If you believe your recovery key is compromised, delete your account immediately.
3.3 Email account
You can create an account with your email address, with login via one-time password (OTP) and an optional password. Keep your email account secure; if it is compromised, contact raphael@musubi.dev.
3.4 Adding email to a hash account
Hash account holders may optionally add an email for recovery. This does not change your primary authentication method.
No device fingerprinting. Private Hub no longer uses device or browser fingerprinting to authenticate or identify you. Authentication is by recovery-hash or email.
4. Quota system and pricing
4.1 Anonymous (no account)
Short cumulative trial; no account required; no data collected.
4.2 Free account
- Quota: 8 minutes per day
- Reset: Daily, in your timezone
- Cost: Free
4.3 Paid tiers
- Pay as you go — from €0.99: credit top-up, never expires, stackable. Pay only for the time you use.
- Annual — €49/year: generous daily quota; auto-renews yearly until cancelled.
Prices shown to EU consumers include applicable VAT. Usage is tracked per second while connected; sessions end automatically when quota is exhausted.
5. Payment terms
5.1 Processing
Payments are processed through a third-party Merchant of Record (shown at checkout), which is the seller of record and handles invoicing and VAT. We never see or store your full card details. Your bank statement shows a neutral company descriptor, not anything VPN-related. Prices are shown in EUR; applicable VAT is included where required for EU consumers, and an invoice is available.
5.2 EU right of withdrawal (14-day cooling-off)
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase of a digital service within 14 days without giving a reason (EU Consumer Rights Directive, transposed into the French Code de la consommation).
Important exception: If you ask us to begin providing the digital service immediately and you acknowledge that you will lose your right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed, the 14-day right no longer applies to the portion already performed. We will ask for this acknowledgment at checkout where relevant.
5.3 Refund policy
Beyond the statutory withdrawal right above, we offer a voluntary refund within 7 days of purchase for:
- Unused quota (no sessions started after purchase)
- Technical issues preventing use of the Service
- Accidental duplicate purchases
Partially used quota is non-refundable except as required by law. To request a refund, email raphael@musubi.dev with your order details and reason.
5.4 Failed payments
If a payment fails, quota is not granted until payment succeeds. Auto-renewing subscriptions may be cancelled after repeated failed attempts.
6. Acceptable use policy
Permitted uses
- Privacy-conscious web browsing
- Accessing blocked or censored content
- Research and journalism
- Personal privacy protection
Prohibited uses
You may not use Private Hub for:
- Illegal activities (hacking, fraud, identity theft)
- Distribution of malware or viruses
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Harassment, threats, or cyberbullying
- Automated bots or scrapers that abuse the Service
- DDoS attacks or network disruption
- Circumventing quota limits through fraud
- Reverse-engineering or redistributing the Service
Consequences of violation may include immediate account termination, forfeiture of paid quota, and, where legally required, cooperation with law enforcement.
7. Service availability and limitations
- We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- Tor routing is inherently slower than direct connections; speeds vary by circuit and exit-node load. We do not guarantee specific bandwidth or latency.
- Supported browsers: Google Chrome (latest 2 versions), Microsoft Edge (Chromium), Brave (may conflict with built-in Tor).
8. Privacy and data
Please review our Privacy Policy for full details.
Key commitments:
- We do not track your browsing history, the URLs you visit, your DNS queries, or your traffic content.
- We do not store your real IP address.
- We do store session start/end times, quota usage, and payment records — all visible in your transparency dashboard, where you can export your data as JSON and delete your account.
9. Account termination
By you
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension, deleting your account from the transparency dashboard, or emailing raphael@musubi.dev. Account deletion removes your personal data from our systems, except records we are legally required to keep (e.g. payment/accounting records — see the Privacy Policy retention section).
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse or disrupt the Service. Upon termination by us for cause, remaining quota may be forfeited, subject to your mandatory consumer rights.
10. Intellectual property
Private Hub — including its code, design, and documentation — is the property of Musubi. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without written permission, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by mandatory law (including your statutory rights regarding open-source components). The Tor network is operated by The Tor Project, Inc. and is not affiliated with Private Hub.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law.
We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service, complete anonymity or privacy, compatibility with all websites, or protection from all surveillance.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Musubi shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
Consumer rights notice: Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability or mandatory consumer right that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under French or EU consumer-protection law. Where any provision conflicts with such mandatory rights, those rights prevail.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect new features, pricing changes, or legal requirements.
- Material changes: email notice to accounts with an email on file, plus a 30-day notice period.
- Minor changes: updated "Last Updated" date.
- All versions are published at https://privatehub.org/terms.
If you do not agree to a change, stop using the Service and you may request account deletion.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute relating to these Terms or your use of the Service is subject to the jurisdiction of the competent French courts.
If you are a consumer, you retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence, and nothing in these Terms deprives you of that protection. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform (https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr) and, in France, the consumer mediation process.
14. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and Musubi regarding the Service.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours to a successor or affiliate, subject to your right to delete your account.
- Force majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
